BOARD OF CHRISTIAN EDUCATION
The Christian Education program of the First Congregational Church of Rowley, UCC offers a variety of opportunities for our children, youth and adults to explore their faith. The goal is expressed in the new mission statement adopted by the Christian Education Board; “Create a Bible base foundation that will help build our children’s lives”.
Presently the Sunday school, which is for children from Kindergarten through High school is using the Whole People of God curriculum. There is also a program for preschoolers with a paid caregiver on site. We also have two youth groups in the church. One is called the “Between Group” and it meets after worship one Sunday a month. This group is for those in grades 4 – 6 and works on small service projects for the church. The second group is our Youth Group and is for those who are in grades 7 – 12. The group generally meets a couple times a month from 4 – 5:30 p.m. They do a variety of service projects, fund raisers, and activities.
We also have a music ministry for the children. The Victory Voices Children’s Choir meets after worship to rehearse and then sing during the worship service about once a month. We also have had the young people participate in worship with their instruments.
All of the adults who work with our youth have submitted CORI forms. Our teachers, though all volunteers, are offered support by the Christian Education Director and CE Board as well as the church membership.
We have opportunities for adult study, too. One adult study group meets on Sunday mornings before worship at 9:10 a.m. and the other is a group of ladies who meet Wednesday mornings from 10:00 a.m. to noon. They share coffee/tea and conversations, often using a workbook, study guide or DVD as their focus. This group also serves as an outreach program by sending cards, contributing funds to mission work, and purchasing Bibles among other good deeds.
Our schedule for the Christian Education Program (including youth groups) is as follows:
