Liquid Serenity

Updated: Dec 11, 2023

Scripture: "Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’”

John 7:38

Music: "Come to the Water" Kristian Stanfull and Brent Younker

Message: Liquid Serenity

We are in that season many trek toward the water. How blessed are we to be in the midst of the natural beauty of the Atlantic coast, the Great Marsh, the myriad ponds, streams and rivers. As humans, we are naturally drawn to water for our very lives, as well as the serenity it can impart with its perpetually changing nature. In health or illness, may we remember our bodies are about 70% water, as is our beautiful planet. We need to treat both with love and kindness to stay in balance.

I recently read of Blue Mind theory:

“Blue Mind, a mildly meditative state characterized by calm, peacefulness, unity, and a sense of general happiness and satisfaction with life in the moment.”

Fascinating scientific work, only confirming what our souls have long known.

May you find joy and peace in every moment of nearness to water this season.

"The river has taught me to listen; you will learn from it, too. The river knows everything; one can learn everything from it. You have already learned from the river that it is good to strive downwards, to sink, to seek the depths."

from Siddhartha, Herman Hesse

"We give thanks for the springs that bring life-giving water up from the ground, for the small streams and creeks, for the mighty rivers. We praise the beauty of water, the sparkle of the sunlight on a blue lake, the shimmer of moonlight on the ocean's waves, the white spray of the waterfall. We take delight in the sweet singing of the dancing stream and the roar of the river in the flood."
