Message:                                              The Call of Music

It is hard to envision the power of music over our souls.  Ancient cultures seemed to understand this so long ago. The Greeks ascribed music to the gods, the Muses (the root of our word "music").

Music can take us to a new spiritual space, a destination beyond words, beyond writing, beyond emotion.

It can free us to more fully celebrate, to more deeply grieve, to feel. Whether composed by man, or heard in the rush of nature, music surrounds us if only we will listen.

Music can open our minds, allow us to hear and see other perspectives, to understand one another. Slight changes in music we have long known can at first feel "off"; we might close our minds to its rhythms. I encourage you to stay the course, to listen to the many voices and instruments. There are powerful lessons within.

"The two universal languages on earth are music and

silence. They are also the two primary languages

of heaven."

Peter Kreeft

Let music free your spirit and bring peace to your soul. Amen.

"To sing is to pray twice"

St. Augustine

"Bach gave us God's Word, Mozart gave us God's Laughter, Beethoven gave us God's Fire, God gave us Music that we might pray without words."
